How long do LED flush mounts last?
It's rated for 50,000 hours. Run it 12 hours a day and that's about 11 years before the LEDs reach end of rated life. The array and driver are sealed and non-serviceable, so budget for replacing the fixture rather than swapping a lamp. Operating range is -20C to 40C. The built-in 2.5kV surge protection keeps the driver alive through line transients, which matters in older buildings.
How do you replace a flush mount ceiling light fixture?
Three steps, and the hardware is in the box. Fasten the supplied mounting plate to the existing outlet box with the two screws, driving them fully home. Join white to white and black to black, using the three supplied wire nuts or the Quick Connector. Then rotate and push the fixture onto the plate. No screws pass through the trim, so the finished ceiling stays clean. Kill the power first, and install to the Canadian Electrical Code or the Quebec Electrical Code.
One part number instead of fifteen
Five colour temperatures times three wattages gives 15 combinations from a single SKU. For a distributor that's one line on the shelf covering jobs that used to need separate stock. For a contractor it moves the colour decision out of the order desk and onto the ceiling, after the finishes are in. Both switches sit on a pigtail behind the housing, so set them before you twist the fixture on.
Will it fit the ceiling you've got?
You need a compartment of at least 7" diameter by 0.65" deep, and a standard outlet box. It mounts horizontal or vertical. Damp location rated, which covers bathrooms, covered soffits, laundry rooms, closets and pantries. It dims on Triac forward-phase dimmers only. At 0.55 lbs it hangs off the plate without extra support.
