Shop Outdoor Landscape Lighting by Fixture Type
Votatec stocks six categories of outdoor landscape lighting fixtures, each suited to a different application in commercial, institutional, and multi-unit residential settings.
Path Lights
Stand-alone post-mounted fixtures, 450-600mm tall, directing light downward onto walkways, driveways, and garden borders. Available in 3CCT-adjustable configurations. Typical draw: 3-5W per fixture.
In-Ground Well Lights
Flush-mount in-ground spot lights in 1.5" and 3" diameters. Adjustable beam heads for uplighting trees, columns, and architectural features. IP67-rated for in-ground installations.
Bollard Lights
600-1000mm posts with 360-degree or directional diffusers. Common for parking areas, plazas, condo courtyards, and transit corridors. CCT and power adjustable to match site specifications.
Spot Lights
Ground-spike spot lights with adjustable heads covering 15-45° beam angles. Used for uplighting, accent lighting, and facade washing. Available in narrow spot, medium flood, and wide flood.
Hardscape Lights
Low-profile 4.5W and 7W fixtures that integrate into retaining walls, steps, seat walls, and deck posts during hardscape construction. Horizontal or vertical aiming. Depth: 25-50mm.
Step Lights
Compact round step lights for stairway nosing, ramps, and low-profile wall installations. 1-3W per unit. Suitable for both interior stairwells and exterior landings.
All fixture types are available for wholesale order. Contact Votatec with your fixture type, quantity, and CCT requirement to receive a project quote.

Low-Voltage vs Line-Voltage Landscape Lighting for Commercial Projects
Choosing the right voltage system is a decision that affects installation cost, permitting, and long-term maintenance. Here's how the two systems compare for commercial and institutional projects in Canada.
Low-voltage (12V DC) systems step down from 120V mains power via a transformer buried at the circuit origin. Cable runs use 12/2 or 14/2 direct burial landscape wire at 150mm depth. Low-voltage is the standard for residential and light commercial path lighting, accent lighting, and well lights. The 12V system is safe to handle without an electrician for minor adjustments after commissioning, and transformers can be programmed with timers and dimmers.
Line-voltage (120V) outdoor landscape lighting is required for high-wattage applications - large-scale uplighting, commercial bollards on dedicated circuits, and municipal park installations. Line-voltage fixtures need weatherproof conduit, GFI protection, and a licensed electrician for installation and permits in all Canadian provinces. Per-fixture control is available via photocells and timers.
For most commercial property and multi-unit residential projects, a hybrid approach works best: low-voltage for path and accent lighting on green areas, line-voltage for perimeter bollards and building-mounted uplights. Votatec's team can advise on fixture selection for either system.

LED Landscape Lighting Techniques for Canadian Outdoor Spaces
Effective outdoor lighting design uses layered techniques to create depth, safety, and visual interest. These four methods apply to commercial, hospitality, and multi-unit residential projects.
Uplighting positions ground-mounted well lights or spike-mount spot lights at the base of trees, columns, or building facades, directing the beam upward. Narrow beams (15-25°) create tight, dramatic columns of light. Medium floods (25-45°) wash architectural surfaces. LED well lights and spot lights use 3-7W versus 35-50W for the halogen equivalents they replace - up to 75% less energy for the same output. Pathway lighting uses post-mounted fixtures at 450-600mm height positioned every 2.5-4.5 metres along walkways, driveways, and steps. Shields direct light downward to surface level, reducing glare for pedestrians. This is the primary application for Votatec's LED path lights and step lights.
Accent and wall-wash lighting uses adjustable spot lights and wall-mount fixtures to highlight sculpture, water features, signage, and garden plantings. Narrow beams (15-25°) draw attention to a focal point. Higher output fixtures (7-12W) are used for taller or wider subjects.
Hardscape integration embeds low-profile fixtures into retaining walls, step risers, and deck posts during construction. Votatec's hardscape lights (4.5W and 7W) are designed for this application, with a 25-50mm installation depth and horizontal or vertical aiming to suit different wall and step orientations. LED hardscape lights are rated for Canadian freeze-thaw cycles and don't require relamping.
Outdoor Landscape Lighting for Commercial Properties and Multi-Unit Buildings
Votatec's outdoor landscape lighting is specified for a range of commercial, government, and multi-unit residential applications. Contractors and property managers use our fixtures on:
- Office and retail properties - entrance uplighting, parking perimeter bollards, branded signage accent lighting
- Hospitality - hotel entrance and courtyard path lighting, poolside hardscape LEDs, restaurant patio and terrace accent lighting
- Multi-unit residential and strata - common-area pathway lighting, parkade perimeter bollards, garden bed accents, building entrance uplights
- Municipal and institutional - park pathway bollards, plaza lighting, transit stop perimeter lighting, school and hospital entrance lighting
- Industrial and warehouse perimeters - bollards and wall-mount fixtures for exterior access points and loading areas
Provincial utility rebate programmes in British Columbia (BC Hydro), Ontario (Save on Energy), and Alberta (Energy Efficiency Alberta) may cover a portion of LED outdoor lighting upgrades on commercial properties. Votatec doesn't administer rebates directly, but our fixtures meet the technical requirements for most programmes. Verify current eligibility with your provincial utility before quoting a project.

IP Ratings and Durability for Outdoor LED Lights in Canada
Outdoor fixture durability in Canada means performing through freeze-thaw cycles, UV exposure, wind-driven rain, and in coastal areas, salt-laden air. IP rating is the starting point, not the only factor.
IP65 is the minimum for any fixture exposed to rain, hose spray, or garden irrigation. Dust-tight and protected against direct water jets from any angle. Required for path lights, spot lights, bollards, and wall-mount fixtures.
IP67 is the standard for in-ground well lights. Protection against submersion up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. Required for fixtures installed below grade where groundwater pooling is possible - common in Canadian spring thaw conditions.
IP68 is required for submersible pond, pool, and fountain fixtures. Continuous submersion beyond 1 metre. Not required for standard landscape installations.
Beyond IP rating, housing material matters for Canadian conditions. Votatec landscape fixtures use aluminium, brass, or powder-coated steel housings. Plastic housings are not used - they become brittle below -20°C and degrade under UV exposure within 3-5 seasons.
All LED modules are solid-state with no filament or glass envelope, so cold temperatures don't affect light output or startup.
For coastal installations in Vancouver, Victoria, or Halifax, specify fixtures with marine-grade powder coating or solid brass housings where chloride exposure is a factor.
