LED PAR light bulbs give contractors directional output for recessed cans, track heads and retail display, in PAR16, PAR20, PAR30 and PAR38 sizes. Every bulb is a parabolic aluminized reflector lamp with an E26 base, so it drops straight into standard sockets. Pick a spot beam for accent work or a flood for general wash. Select sizes ship in a 5-Way CCT version, so one SKU covers 2700K through 5000K on site.

PAR Bulb Sizes Explained

A PAR lamp is named for its size. The number after PAR is the bulb diameter in eighths of an inch. So PAR16 is 2 inches across, PAR20 is 2.5 inches, PAR30 is 3.75 inches, and PAR38 is 4.75 inches. Bigger diameter means more room for lumens and a wider throw. Here's how each size fits a job.

PAR16 LED Bulbs

PAR16 is the compact one. It suits small track heads, display cases and accent fixtures where space is tight. Contractors reach for PAR16 LED bulbs when a halogen MR or mini-PAR needs a swap without changing the fixture. Low wattage, real punch.

PAR20 LED Bulbs

PAR20 steps up the output while staying slim. It's a common pick for retail track lighting and residential accent runs. If a PAR16 feels too small but a PAR30 won't fit the housing, PAR20 is the middle ground. Spot and flood beams both work for merchandising.

PAR30 LED Bulbs

PAR30 is the workhorse for commercial track and recessed cans. It comes in two necks: short neck (PAR30S) for flush cans, and long neck (PAR30L) for fixtures that need the lamp to sit proud. More lumens than a PAR20, smaller footprint than a PAR38. Good for hospitality and retail ceilings.

PAR38 LED Bulbs

PAR38 is the big reflector. It throws the most light and covers high ceilings, large display walls and outdoor-rated fixtures. When a job needs flood coverage from a single lamp, PAR38 does it. It's the standard replacement for 90W to 120W halogen PAR38.

PAR16 vs PAR20: Which Size Fits Your Fixture?

Measure the fixture opening first. PAR16 needs about 2 inches of clearance; PAR20 needs about 2.5 inches. If the old bulb was a halogen PAR16 or a 50W MR-style lamp, stay with PAR16. If the fixture already held a PAR20 or you want more lumens from the same track head, go PAR20. For most retail track jobs, PAR20 gives a better light-to-fixture balance. For tight display cases, PAR16 wins.

Where Contractors Use PAR LED Bulbs

  • Retail and display: track heads over merchandise, accent spots on signage and product walls.
  • Hospitality: lobby downlights, restaurant accent runs, guest-room recessed cans.
  • Recessed and track: direct swap for halogen PAR in existing cans and rails.
  • Commercial interiors: offices, galleries and showrooms that need crisp directional light.

LED vs Halogen PAR: What the Numbers Say

Swapping halogen PAR for LED cuts energy use by up to 75%, and LED PAR bulbs run far longer before replacement.1 A halogen PAR38 burns 90W to 120W; an LED PAR38 hits similar output near 15W to 18W. Over a retail floor with dozens of track heads, that's a fast payback on hydro and on relamping labour. Less heat output also eases the cooling load in display cases.
