Product Overview

A hardwired 9" PIR flush mount with two documented install paths. It surface-mounts to a terminal box, or retrofits into an existing 5" or 6" recessed can through an E26 socket adapter, so the ceiling never gets opened. Output runs 1296Lm at 3000K to 1440Lm at 4000K, CRI above 80, 120V only, 120° spread. Nameplate 18W, measured draw 17.5W. PMMA lens, damp-location cETL listing, 2.5kV surge protection, 5-year warranty. Non-dimmable.

Where's the best place to put a motion sensor ceiling light?

Mount it at 9.85 ft and it'll cover roughly 15 ft across. The PIR sensor reads 3 to 5 m over a 110° field, and that field has a **30° blind cone directly underneath the fixture**. Someone standing straight below can go undetected. In corridors that's fine, people cross the field. Above a doorway, offset the fixture rather than centring it.

What are the downsides of a motion sensor light?

Three, and they're worth knowing before you spec it. The hold time is 30 seconds from the last detected motion, so anyone sitting still in the blind cone will get dropped. The fixture is non-dimmable, so don't put it on a dimmer circuit. And the day/night switch trips people up: in Night mode the fixture stays off when natural light is present, which reads like a fault until you know it's the setting.

How the day and night modes actually differ

There's a mode switch on the fixture body. **Day mode** triggers on motion no matter how bright the room already is. **Night mode** holds off while natural light is present and triggers only when ambient light drops below 10 lux. Ships set to Day mode, 100% brightness, 30-second hold.

Where this fixture won't work

It's damp-location cETL listed and IP20, and the manual badges it indoor use only. Covered indoor damp areas are fine, exposed outdoor isn't. Don't cover it with insulating material, which rules out burying it in an insulated ceiling cavity on a can retrofit. It needs 120V only, a minimum ⌀8.9" x 0.8" compartment, and an ambient range of -20°C to +40°C. When you pull one down, press one side of the frame perpendicular to the mounting strap and lift from the opposite side. Prying one edge off the self-lock strap bends it. For the can-retrofit sequence, the switch positions and the uninstall steps, open the Manual (PDF) in the Related documents panel, and pull the IES file if your designer needs the tested 1352 to 1481 Lm photometry.
