What height should high bay LED lights be?
Over 20 feet, and this one has a ceiling of its own. The manual restricts the operating position to vertical only, and the optional PIR sensor is rated to a 10 metre (33 foot) mounting height. That gives you a working window of roughly 20 to 33 feet with the sensor fitted, higher without it. The beam is 120 degrees, so plan spacing at about 1.2 to 1.5 times the mounting height.
How many high bay lights for a 30x40 shop?
Two, at the 160W setting. The spec sheet's tested table gives 26,838 lumens per unit at 160W and 3500K, so a pair puts roughly 27 maintained foot-candles on a 1,200 sq ft floor once you allow for fixture efficiency and dirt depreciation. That suits service and repair work. Running both at 300W would over-light the room and you'd pay for it monthly. Drop the IES file into your layout software before you commit to a count.
One fixture from 120V to 347V
Canadian plants and warehouses run 347/600V service. Most linear high bays sold into this market are 120-277V US stock, which means a step-down transformer at every drop, plus the labour and the failure point. This one accepts 120V through 347V on the same terminal block. The 0-10V dimming cables are in the box.
What ships in the box, and what doesn't
Chain, V-hook and wire cap are included. The surface mount kit, the pendant kit, the PIR sensor and the HD05R remote are each ordered separately, which the spec sheet marks and the product page doesn't. Budget for them up front. You'll need a clear compartment of 45.67 x 14.17 x 2.89 inches. Don't let insulation touch the housing, and note the manual rates working temperature at -4°F to 104°F.
