Your parking lot lights are costing you more than they should. If you're still running metal halide or high-pressure sodium, you're wasting around 75% of your energy bill on heat, according to Natural Resources Canada. Pretty much throwing money at the sky.

Votatec LED area lights fix that. Our commercial-grade fixtures deliver 20,000 to 80,000 lumens depending on the model, cut energy use by up to 80%, and last over 100,000 hours. That's 10+ years of maintenance-free operation for most facilities. No bulb changes. No lift rentals. No weekend emergency calls.

Every fixture is DLC Premium Listed and CSA certified, so you qualify for utility rebates across Ontario, BC, and Quebec. And they work in Canadian winters, down to -40C, with instant-on at full brightness.

Complete LED Area Lights for Every Outdoor Application

Parking Lot Lighting

This is where most of our outdoor LED area light fixtures end up. Makes sense, parking lot lighting eats a ton of energy and it's the first thing customers and tenants see.

Our LED parking lot lights deliver 20,000 to 54,000 lumens per fixture with Type II through Type V distribution patterns. You pick the beam angle that matches your layout. Most commercial lots do well with 4000K or 5000K colour temperature for that crisp, white light that makes people feel safer walking to their cars.

All fixtures are IP66 rated. Rain, snow, ice, dust, doesn't matter. They just work.

Quick sizing guide:

  • Small lots (under 50 spaces): 100W-150W fixtures on 15-20 foot poles, spaced 100-120 feet apart
  • Medium lots (50-200 spaces): 200W-240W fixtures on 25-30 foot poles
  • Large lots (200+ spaces): 300W-500W fixtures on 35+ foot poles

Industrial and Commercial Facilities

Warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing yards, loading docks. These areas need serious light output and fixtures that can take a beating.

Our industrial LED area lights use die-cast aluminum housing with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses. Built-in surge protection handles 10kV minimum, which matters more than most people realize. Power surges from nearby lightning strikes kill cheap fixtures. Ours handle it.

You can add motion sensors and photocells to cut energy use even further. Some facilities report 85-90% total savings when they combine LED efficiency with smart controls.

Municipal and Infrastructure Projects

Street lighting, pathway illumination, transit stations, school grounds. Government projects need fixtures that meet specific procurement standards, and ours do.

Votatec LED street lights mount at heights from 15 to 40 feet with adjustable colour temperatures from 3000K to 5000K. The warmer 3000K option is Dark Sky compliant, which more municipalities are requiring now. Smart city integration is available for remote monitoring and dimming schedules.

All our LED street lights and area light fixtures meet Buy Canadian procurement guidelines and come with full IES LM-79 test data for your lighting design submissions.

Why Facility Managers Switch to Votatec LED Area Lights

The Energy Math Is Hard to Ignore

Here's some quick math. Say you've got 50 metal halide fixtures at 400W each running 12 hours a day. That's 87,600 kWh per year. Switch to 150W LED area lights and you're down to 32,850 kWh. At $0.13/kWh (Ontario's off-peak rate per the Ontario Energy Board), that's $7,117 in annual savings. Just from the fixtures.

Factor in rebates from SaveOnEnergy (Ontario), BC Hydro, or Hydro-Quebec, and payback drops to 18-24 months for most projects. Sometimes less.

Better Light Where You Need It

Old HID lights throw light everywhere, including up into the sky and sideways into neighbours' windows. LED area lights use precision optics to put light exactly where it belongs, on the ground.

Higher CRI ratings (70-80+) mean colours look more natural under the light. Security cameras pick up more detail. People can read signs and find their cars faster. And there's zero warm-up time. Flip the switch and you've got full brightness immediately.

Built for Canadian Weather

This one matters. Traditional HID fixtures struggle to start in cold weather. Sometimes they won't ignite at all below -20C. You've probably seen the orange flickering in a parking lot on a cold January night. That's your metal halides failing.

Votatec LED area lights operate from -40C to +50C without any performance loss. Full output, instant on, every time. Whether it's a February night in Edmonton or a July afternoon in Toronto.

How to Choose the Right LED Area Light

Picking the right fixture comes down to three things: mounting height, spacing, and what you're lighting.

Step 1: Know your pole height. Most existing parking lots use 20-30 foot poles. If you're retrofitting, you're probably keeping the same poles, so match the wattage to your height.

Step 2: Pick your distribution pattern. Type II works for walkways and narrow areas. Type III covers medium-width parking rows. Type V gives you a square pattern for large open areas. Not sure? Send us your lot dimensions and we'll recommend the right one.

Step 3: Check your utility rebate. DLC Premium listing means you qualify for the highest rebate tier in most Canadian provinces. In Ontario alone, SaveOnEnergy covers a big portion of the fixture cost. It's worth checking before you buy.

And here's something most people don't think about, the CCT and wattage adjustability on our fixtures means you can fine-tune output after installation. Order one model and adjust it on site. No returns, no reorders.

Not sure where to start? We offer free AGi32 photometric modelling for every project. Send us your site dimensions and we'll calculate exact fixture quantities, placement, and light levels to meet IES standards. No guesswork.
