The A21 Milky Filament is a 3-way LED bulb. One screw-in bulb, three brightness steps, switched at the lamp rather than at the wall.
Three power levels: 6W, 9W and 12W. The top step puts out 1600Lm at 3000K, with CRI 80 and a full 360-degree beam on a standard E26 base.
UL listed, rated 50,000 hours, power factor 0.9, and rated for enclosed fixtures, which not every filament bulb in this range is.
What is a 3-way LED bulb?
A 3-way bulb gives you three brightness levels from one bulb, switched at the lamp instead of at the wall. It needs a 3-way socket, which carries two contacts rather than one, plus a turn knob or pull chain. Each turn steps the bulb up: low, medium, high. This one runs 6W, 9W and 12W, and the 3W code in the model number VO-FA21W12-26-30-3W-M is what marks it as a 3-way part.
Will it work in a normal socket?
It'll screw in. The E26 base is standard, so it fits any medium-base lamp. What you lose is the stepping. A single-contact socket only feeds one of the two contacts, so the bulb sits at one fixed output and the knob does nothing. Specify 3-way sockets when you order, or you're paying for a feature the fixture can't reach. The rule runs both ways: a normal bulb in a 3-way lamp also runs at one level.
Why a filament 3-way instead of a frosted one?
Because this is a bulb people can see. Most 3-way LEDs are frosted plastic A21s built to hide inside a shade. This one runs filament strips behind milky glass, so it reads as a warm vintage lamp in an open shade, a bare socket or a glass fitting. That's the difference in hotel rooms, restaurant table lamps and retail displays, where the guest sets their own light level and the bulb is part of the room.
Fit and fixture notes
The bulb runs 5" long by 2-5/8" across, so check narrow harps and tight shades before you commit to a floor-wide order. E26 medium base, 120V. The 360-degree beam pushes light evenly through a shade rather than throwing it down in a cone, which is what you want in a table lamp. The enclosed-fixture rating means sealed ceiling and wall fittings are fine too.
