The 4" Recessed Panel Night Light is a canless LED pot light that runs two fixtures off one wall switch: a 9W white downlight and a separate 3W amber night light at 2200K.
Pick one of five colour temperatures on the junction box switch before install, from 2700K to 5000K. 750 lm on the main head, CRI above 80, dimmable 10% to 100%.
Aluminium body, IC rated, cETL listed by Intertek, damp rated face, 5-year warranty.
What recessed lights have a night light mode?
This one does, and it's a real second light engine rather than a dimmed main head. Flip the wall switch off and back on within a second, and the 9W white downlight hands over to a 3W amber ring at 2200K. Flip it again to go back. Both modes share one switch leg, so a hallway or stairwell gets night lighting without a second circuit or a plug-in unit.
What are pot lights called now?
Same fixture, six names. Canadian contractors say pot light. Americans say can light or recessed light. Because this one has no housing can, you'll also see canless, wafer light and slim panel. Votatec catalogues it as a recessed panel downlight. All six describe a fixture that sits flush to the ceiling and feeds from a remote junction box.
Set the colour temperature before you close the ceiling
The five-position CCT switch sits inside the junction box, not on the trim. Choose 2700K through 5000K while the box is still in your hand. Once it clips into the ceiling, that switch is above the drywall and changing it means pulling the unit back out. Stock one SKU, set the colour on site.
Will it fit, and where can it go?
Cut Ø4 1/4" (108mm), not 4". The manual is specific, and a nominal 4" hole leaves the clips 6mm short. The body is 125mm across and 20mm deep, so allow OD125 x H20mm for the fixture plus 102 x 68 x 35mm for the junction box. The face is IP44 and damp listed. The manual says in both English and French that the back of the unit and the junction box must stay out of damp locations, so a vented attic above a bathroom needs a dry plenum. Dimming runs 10% to 100% on tested phase-cut dimmers from Lutron, Leviton and Cooper.
For the tested dimmer list, the cut-hole template and the bilingual wiring steps, open the Manual (PDF), and pull the IES file if your designer needs the measured 793 lm distribution.
