This 3" square gimbal recessed light aims where a fixed pot light can't. The COB head tilts and rotates inside a 90mm aluminium trim, and it drops into a 2.95" (75mm) cut hole with no housing.
7W delivers 560Lm at CRI 80+ on a tight 24° accent beam. Five colour temperatures sit on a slide switch: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K.
Type IC rated, air tight, damp rated, ETL listed. 120V. Five-year warranty.
What is a gimbal recessed light?
A gimbal recessed light is a recessed fixture whose light engine pivots inside the trim, so you aim the beam after the ceiling is closed. A fixed downlight only points straight down. This one sits in a 90mm square trim, 42mm deep, and needs a 2.95" (75mm) cut hole.
When should you use a gimbal instead of a fixed pot light?
When something specific needs lighting. Artwork, a feature wall, retail shelving, a sloped ceiling where a fixed trim would throw glare back at people.
Note the beam before you order. At 24° this is tighter than the 38° to 40° gimbals commonly stocked in Canada, and that's deliberate: it concentrates 560Lm into a small pool for accent work. Lighting a whole room evenly is a different job. For that, take a wider fixture from our downlight range.
Five colour temperatures on one part number
A slide switch on the driver box sets 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K or 5000K at installation. Distributors carry one SKU instead of five. Crews match an existing ceiling on site instead of driving back for the right box. SDCM under 7 keeps neighbouring fixtures looking consistent, and the COB engine is rated 50,000 hours at a power factor above 0.9. It replaces a 60W halogen.
Will it fit your ceiling?
Type IC rated, so it sits in direct contact with insulation. Insulated or non-insulated ceilings both work. It's air tight, which matters where the ceiling doubles as an air barrier, and it's rated for damp locations, though installation is indoor only. Operating range is -20°C to 45°C.
Spring-loaded clips pull the trim flush. The 100mm x 35mm driver box wires through push-in quick-connect terminals and drops into the ceiling on remodel jobs, so there's no housing to frame.
