Product Overview

A 3" trimless pot light with no visible trim ring. The perforated frame pushes into the ceiling and gets mudded flush, so the finished opening reads as a clean 3" aperture cut straight into the drywall. 12W delivers 810 to 885 lumens across five field-selectable colour temperatures, 2700K to 5000K, at CRI above 90 on a 60° wide flood beam. 120V, damp rated. Die-cast aluminum body, ETL listed by Intertek, 5-year warranty.

What is trimless recessed lighting?

Trimless recessed lighting hides the trim ring inside the ceiling, so nothing frames the opening. This one clips into a 3-3/8" (86mm) hole on a perforated push-and-lock mud-in frame. Drywall compound keys through the perforations, then gets taped and sanded flat. What stays visible is the 3" aperture and the reflector cone, in white or black.

Trim or trimless: which should you spec?

Trim if the ceiling is already closed. Trimless if it isn't. Votatec lists this as a new-construction fixture and that's the real constraint, because a mud-in frame needs compound, tape and sanding before the ceiling gets its finish. It isn't a retrofit swap for an existing pot light, and there's no trim ring to cover a rough cut.

What has to fit above the ceiling

More than the hole. The light module measures 4-3/4" x 2-1/8" (118 x 54mm), and the spec sheet gives that same figure as the minimum compartment size, so budget 2-1/8" of plenum depth. The driver sits in its own box, 4-1/2" x 2-1/4", on an 18" (460mm) quick-connect lead, so it needs somewhere to land nearby. Rated for enclosed fixtures. Damp location covers bathrooms and covered soffits, not open exterior. Not DLC listed.

Which dimmers work with it?

ELV and TRIAC, down to 10%. Votatec has bench-tested 30 dimmer models, most of them Lutron and Leviton, and the tested list runs across page 4 of the spec sheet. Check it against what you already stock before you commit the job. Use LED-rated dimmers only, since older incandescent dimmers cause flicker and drop-out on loads this small. For the tested dimmer list, the mounting sequence and the per-CCT lumen table, open the Spec sheet and Manual, and pull the IES file if your designer is running a layout.
