A 4" slim LED pot light with its colour temperature locked at the factory, so every fixture on the job matches. No switch, no crew guessing. 9W draws a certified 750 lm at CRI 94, runs on 120V, and dims to 10% on ELV and TRIAC. Drops into a 4-1/4" hole and needs 0.9" of plenum. Die-cast aluminum frame, isolated flicker-free driver, ENERGY STAR certified, Type IC, wet location listed, 5 year warranty.

What is the hole size for a 4 inch pot light?

Cut a 4-1/4" hole. This fixture seats in any opening from 4-1/4" (11.0 cm) to 4-1/2" (11.5 cm), and the 4.92" trim covers the whole range, so a ragged cut still disappears. Behind the ceiling you need 0.9" of depth. Four spring clips hold it, and it's easier to compress them one at a time rather than all four at once. The junction box accepts a maximum of two line feeds, which is what caps the length of a daisy-chained run.

What is an IC rated pot light?

IC means insulation contact. Ceiling insulation can sit directly against the housing without a fire risk, so nobody has to hold batt back from the fixture in an insulated ceiling. This one is listed Type IC on the ENERGY STAR downlight register under VO-RP4W9-120-30-D, -40-D and -50-D. IC and airtight are two separate ratings and buyers often read one as implying the other. Ask us to confirm airtight status in writing before you spec it into a sealed attic.

Is IC rated the same as fire rated?

No. Different tests, different problems. IC covers contact with insulation. A fire rating covers how long a ceiling assembly holds a fire back. Should you pick fixed or switchable colour temperature?

Pick fixed when the whole job has to match. Order VO-RP4W9-120-30-D for 3000K, -40-D for 4000K, -50-D for 5000K, and nothing on site can change it.
