What are small ceiling lights called?
Flush mounts, or surface mounts. A flush mount sits tight against the ceiling with no gap, which is why it suits low ceilings and tight spaces where a pendant or a semi-flush would hang into the room. This one is 5" across and 0.65" deep, so it reads as a disc rather than a fixture.
What size flush mount light for a small room?

What the two switches actually save you
Most selectable fixtures switch colour temperature only. This one switches wattage too, so a single part number covers five colour temperatures and three output levels. For a distributor that means one line item instead of fifteen. For a contractor it means matching an existing ceiling on site rather than driving back for a different box. Set both switches before you fit the trim, because you can't reach them afterwards.
What you need behind it
A standard junction box and a 5" x 0.65" clear compartment. The fixture ships with its mounting plate, screws and a wire nut, and you'll want a Phillips screwdriver, wire cutters and pliers. It mounts horizontally or vertically, so a wall is as valid as a ceiling. It's rated for damp locations, which covers a covered porch or a bathroom ceiling but not direct weather.
