The 6" Recessed Panel Night Light (P02106-NL-12W) is a canless LED pot light with a second light built in. One flip of the wall switch drops it from full output to a soft 2200K amber glow. Downlight mode delivers 1,000 lumens from 12W across five selectable colour temperatures, 2700K to 5000K. The night light draws 3W. ETL listed, ENERGY STAR certified, Type IC, damp rated, 5-year warranty.

What recessed lights have a night light mode?

This one does, and it needs no second circuit. The night light is built into the same fixture and runs off the same switch leg, so you're not pulling an extra wire or adding a plug-in unit. Flip the wall switch off and back on inside one second and the panel drops from full output to a 2200K amber glow. Flip it again to go back. Amber is the point: at 2200K there's almost no blue content, so it won't wake a patient or a child the way a white night light does.

How much light does the 6" panel actually put out?

A certified 1,000 lumens from 12 watts, at 83.3 lumens per watt. The factory's own photometric table runs higher, between 1,118 and 1,261 lumens depending on which colour temperature you select, and the IES file integrates to 1,281. Beam angle is 110 degrees, so a 9-foot ceiling gives you roughly a 25-foot spread of usable light per fixture. CRI is 84 and rated life is 60,000 hours.

Set the colour temperature before it goes in the ceiling

Colour selection is a DIP switch inside the junction box, not a trim ring you can reach later. Five positions: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K. Set it on the bench, because once the panel is clipped flush you'd have to pull it back down to change it. Order in bulk and you can set a whole floor to one temperature in a few minutes.

Where it can go, and where it can't

The face is damp rated at IP44, so bathrooms, covered entries and laundry rooms are fine. The back is not. Votatec's manual is explicit that the rear of the unit and the junction box must not sit in a damp space, so the plenum side needs to stay dry. Cut to 6-1/4" (158mm), not 6". It's Type IC, so insulation can touch the housing.
