PAR30 LED

Long neck PAR30 on an E26 base, sized for deeper recessed cans and track heads where a short neck sits too far back in the housing. Draws 9.1W and returns 843 lumens, so it clears the 75W-halogen brightness band at 93 lm/W. Choose 3000K, 4000K or 5000K, all at CRI above 80.

Is this a long neck or a short neck PAR30?

Long neck. It measures 4.75in from face to base contact on the standard 3.75in PAR30 diameter, which puts it above every published short neck maximum. That extra inch is the whole decision. In a deep recessed housing a short neck bulb sits too far back, so the trim shadows the beam and you lose output at the edges. In a shallow can the reverse happens and a long neck protrudes past the trim.

Measure your housing depth before ordering. If the lamp face needs to sit near flush with the ceiling in a 5 or 6 inch can, this is the one you want.

What does the 40 degree beam actually cover?

The photometric file measures the 50% beam between 27.7 and 46 degrees depending on which way you slice it, averaging 36.6. The beam is mildly oval rather than round, roughly 1.66 to 1.

That matters for spacing. On a wall wash, orient the wide axis along the wall and the pools overlap evenly. Orient it the other way and you'll see scalloping between heads. Centre beam intensity is 1,569 candela.

Will it run in an enclosed fixture?

Yes, and that's worth checking against whatever you're replacing it with. Plenty of LED reflector lamps are explicitly not rated for enclosed housings, because trapped heat shortens driver life. This one is rated for them, so sealed outdoor cans and closed decorative fixtures are in scope.

Which dimmers work?

Use a CL-series dimmer built for LED loads. Lutron's DVCL-153PLH and MACL-153M are both on the compatibility list and both are rated for dimmable LED. Older incandescent-only dimmers will run this lamp, but you'll get a narrow range and possible flicker at the bottom of the travel.
