The Spear is the tallest candelabra bulb Votatec builds. Its faceted clear glass runs 4-3/4 inches to a sharp point, with four vertical filaments left on show, so it suits fixtures where the bulb is meant to be seen.
5.5W gives 600 lumens at 3000K warm white. Dimmable on 120V, 360 degree beam, CRI above 80.
E12 candelabra base, UL listed, rated 50,000 hours.
How big is the Spear candle bulb?
It's 4-3/4 inches long and 1-1/2 inches across, the longest E12 candle filament bulb Votatec lists. A standard candle bulb is 3-7/8 inches, so the Spear adds nearly a full inch. Measure shade clearance and socket depth before you order it for a chandelier retrofit, because that inch is what fouls a tight glass shade. In an open sconce or a bare-socket pendant, the extra length is the whole point.
Can you use it in an enclosed fixture?
No. This bulb is rated for open fixtures only. A sealed globe or closed shade traps the heat the bulb needs to shed, and that heat settles on the driver and the phosphor coating rather than the glass. Running a non-rated bulb in a sealed fixture can cut rated life by half or more, and it shifts colour as the phosphor degrades. Ask us for an enclosed-rated part if the fixture is sealed.
Which dimmers are tested with it?
Seven, and Votatec publishes the list rather than just printing "dimmable". Lutron DVCL-153PLH, S600-P, DV600-P15 and MACL-153M. Leviton 6681, 6674 and 6683. Matching a tested pair is what keeps low-end flicker and drop-out off your callback list, and it matters more with filament bulbs because the load is so small. Six Spears on one chandelier draw 33W in total, which sits under the minimum load some older dimmers need to behave.
Where the spear shape earns its place
Restaurant and bar pendants. Retail display. Hotel lobby sconces, and residential chandeliers with exposed sockets. The 360 degree beam means there's no dark side when the bulb hangs in open air, which matters when people see the bulb from every angle. It's 3000K only, so it stays warm. If a job needs cooler or selectable white, the 5-CCT candle covers 2700K through 6000K in the same 5.5W and 600 lumens.
No spec sheet is published for this part yet, so send us the model number VO-FCAW5.5-12-30-D-SP and we'll confirm photometrics, the dimming curve and carton quantities before you commit. Tell us your fixture count and we'll come back with a wholesale quote plus a dimmer match for the circuit.
