The ST17 is a clear glass LED filament bulb in neutral white, not the deep amber most Edison bulbs ship in. Pick 3000K at 608 lumens or 4000K at 788 lumens, both 6W on an E26 base, 120V and dimmable, with CRI above 80 and a full 360 degree beam.
Glass body, 2.5kV surge protection, cUL listed, rated 15,000 hours and backed for 3 years. It isn't rated for enclosed fixtures.
Can you use this bulb in an enclosed fixture?
No. The ST17 isn't rated for enclosed fixtures, and Votatec's spec sheet says so plainly. Sealed glass or metal enclosures trap heat around the base, and that heat cooks the driver electronics long before the LED itself wears out. You'll see flicker first, then early dimming, then failure. The bulb carries an IP20 rating, so it belongs in dry indoor locations in open or vented fixtures. Open pendants, cage fixtures, exposed sockets and track heads are all fine.
How bright is a 6W LED Edison bulb?
Brighter at 4000K than at 3000K, and the gap is wider than most buyers expect. The 3000K model, VO-FST17W6-26-30-D, delivers 608 lumens. The 4000K model, VO-FST17W6-26-40-D, delivers 788 lumens off the same 6W draw. That's about 30% more light from two bulbs that look identical in the box. Spec the 4000K when you need output, the 3000K when you want the warmer tone.
Why pick a neutral white filament bulb?
Because almost nobody makes one. Vintage-style bulbs cluster at 2200K to 2700K, deep amber, built to imitate a 1910 carbon filament. That's the wrong light for a bakery case, a clinic waiting room, a retail display or an office with exposed pendants, where you want the filament look but need colour that reads honestly on product and skin. At 3000K and 4000K with CRI above 80, this one does both.
Dimming and fixture fit
It dims on standard controls. Votatec lists Leviton 6681, 6674 and 6683, plus Lutron DVCL-153PLH, S600-P, DV600-P15 and MACL-153M. The glass envelope measures 45mm across and 105mm tall, so check narrow shades and small cage fixtures before you commit. It runs 120V at 50-60Hz, holds power factor above 0.7, carries 2.5kV surge protection as standard, and operates down to -25°C.
