The T40 is a clear tubular filament lamp that puts out 1000 lumens on 9W. The glass tube stands 8 inches tall, so the LED filament reads as a vintage element in open fixtures.
Pick 3000K or 4000K. E26 base, 120V, 360-degree output, CRI above 80, and it dims on seven tested Leviton and Lutron controls.
Clear high-strength glass, 2.5kV surge protection, cETLus listed, three-year warranty. It isn't rated for enclosed fixtures.
How many watts is a 1000 lumen LED bulb?
Usually 10W to 12W. This one does it on 9W. Votatec's spec sheet measures 1033 lumens at 3000K and 1094 lumens at 4000K, which works out to 139 and 150 lumens per watt. That puts the T40 ahead of most lamps a buyer will compare it against, and it covers the same job as a 75W incandescent. The 1000Lm figure published on this page is the conservative family nominal, not the tested number.
When should you not use this bulb?
In any enclosed fixture. The spec sheet rates the T40 for open fixtures only, so a sealed jar, a gasketed lantern or a fully closed globe will trap heat and cut its life short. It's IP20 as well, which means dry indoor locations. Rated ambient runs -20C to +40C, and it performs best near 25C. For a sealed fitting, ask us for a lamp rated for enclosed use instead.
Will an 8-inch tube fit the fixture?
Measure the socket-to-shade clearance first. The lamp is 8 inches tall and 1-3/4 inches across on a standard E26 screw base, and it weighs 80g. The glass is clear, so both the filament and the socket stay visible. That suits exposed pendants, cage fixtures, wall sconces and open chandeliers. Shades sitting close to the socket won't clear the tube.
Which dimmers are tested with it?
Seven. Leviton 6681, 6674 and 6683, plus Lutron DVCL-153PLH, S600-P, DV600-P15 and MACL-153M. Wire it to one of those and you'll skip the flicker and buzz that come from pairing filament LEDs with untested controls. The lamp also carries 2.5kV surge protection as standard, five times what Votatec's smaller filament lamps get.
