G4 LED – 1.6W

The G4-D02A is a 12V G4 LED bulb on a 10mm body, narrow enough for the shrouds and sockets that won't take a 13.5mm capsule. AC or DC 12V, never 120V.

1.6W gives you 150 lumens at 95 lm/W, CRI above 80 and a 360 degree beam. Choose 3000K, 4000K, 5000K or 6000K. Dimmable.

Are G4 bulbs 12V or 120V?

This one's 12V, and it accepts either AC or DC at 50-60Hz. G4 is a low-voltage bi-pin base, so the lamp never sees mains power directly. It sits downstream of a transformer or a 12V driver. Wire it to a 120V circuit and it's gone in an instant, which is the single most common way these get destroyed on site. If you're specifying a run, size the supply for 1.6W per lamp and you'll fit far more of them on one transformer than the halogen capsules you're pulling out.

Are G4 LED bulbs the same size as halogen bulbs?

Close, not identical, and the difference is where retrofits fail. This lamp measures 10mm across and 38.5mm end to end, with 27mm of that being body above the pins. A G4 halogen capsule is usually shorter. So measure the shroud before you commit to a pallet, particularly in pendants and puck lights where the glass sits tight against the lamp. Our 2.3W G4 is 13.5mm across, so if 10mm is what fits, this is the one to order.

Is it true that replacing halogen with LED is illegal?

Not in Canada. The prohibition that took effect on 2026-01-01 covers mercury fluorescent lamps, and it says nothing about halogen capsules. G4 halogen is still legal to sell here. The EU is where mains-voltage halogen went, back on 2023-09-01. So for a Canadian building the swap is an energy and maintenance decision, not a compliance deadline.

Where this bulb doesn't belong

It isn't rated for enclosed fixtures, so leave sealed and gasketed housings alone. IP20 means dry locations only, which rules out outdoor and damp installations. Ambient range is -20°C to +45°C, and it performs best around 25°C.
