E11 LED

The E11 LED is a mini candelabra lamp for 11mm E11 sockets. It isn't an E12, and the two don't swap. It dims on standard 120V with no driver or ballast.

Measured output is 435 lumens on 3.8 watts, or 114 lumens per watt. CRI above 80, power factor above 0.9, single 3000K warm white.

Is an E11 bulb the same as an E12?

No. E11 measures 11mm across the screw base and E12 measures 12mm, and that one millimetre decides everything. An E11 in an E12 socket sits loose and can arc. An E12 forced into an E11 socket strips the threads.

Measure the socket, not the bulb that came out of it, because someone may already have forced the wrong one in.

How bright is a 4W E11 LED?

435 lumens. That's the measured figure from our own photometric file, drawing 3.8 watts, which works out to 114 lumens per watt.

Plan around that number. E11 sockets typically held 50W to 100W halogens, and a 50W JD halogen runs roughly 650 to 950 lumens. This lamp sits below a 50W, so a one-for-one relamp will read dimmer than what came out. In a multi-lamp chandelier that's usually fine. In a single-lamp accent fitting, check first.

Does a 360 degree beam angle mean even light?

Around the tube, yes. Our candela grid varies just 1.4 to 1 across the four measured planes, so there's no dark stripe as you walk around it.

Along the lamp, no. Ninety-five per cent of the output lands within 124 degrees of the tip, and the last 30 degrees at the base end carry almost nothing. Point the tip at what you're lighting. In an upward-facing chandelier cup, that's the ceiling.

Where it fits, and where it doesn't

IP20 means dry indoor only. Chandeliers, pendants, table lamps, cabinet and accent fittings. Not steam bathrooms, not outdoors.

The sheet caps ambient at 45C and works best at 25C. Sealed decorative bowls and tight enclosed cups run hotter, and heat is what kills the driver.

Input runs 100-140V on the current sheet, wider than the 120V shown above. That headroom matters on long runs where voltage sags.
