How big should a flush mount ceiling light be?
Measure it, don't trust the name. This fixture is sold as 12 inch and the manual gives the real figure as 11.37 inches across, 0.59 inches deep. That covers an existing 11-inch canopy. It won't hide anything wider.
For layout, the lab report gives a spacing-to-mounting-height ratio of 1.26. Multiply by the height above whatever plane you're lighting. A 9 foot ceiling lighting the floor gives about 11 feet between centres before the pattern starts to scallop. One unit suits a typical bedroom or a bathroom. Corridors want them at roughly that spacing.
Can you put a flush mount light in a bathroom?
In the room, yes. In the shower, no. The manual rates this fixture for damp locations and marks it indoor use only, which covers a bathroom ceiling, a laundry room or an interior space that sees humidity and steam. A wet location rating is the one you need directly inside a shower or tub enclosure, and this fixture doesn't hold one.
One part number, three colour temperatures
The slide switch sits on the housing and gets set before the light goes up, so a single SKU covers 3000K bedrooms, 4000K corridors and 5000K utility rooms. Stock one item instead of three. Output isn't flat across the settings: 4000K measures brightest at 1,932 lumens, and both 3000K and 5000K land near 1,740.
Dimming, cold, and what's in the box
Triac forward-phase dimming on a 120V, 50/60Hz circuit. Rated -20 to +40 °C, so an unheated garage or an entry vestibule is fine. Mounting takes three steps and no tools at the fixture: fix the bracket, connect the wire, then press the light up and rotate clockwise to lock. Two limits from the manual: don't pack insulation against it, and don't change the driver.
