A square-trim 3" LED pot light that drops into a round 2-7/8" hole. You get the architectural square face without cutting a square opening.
8W draws 656 certified lumens at 5000K, CRI 92, across five field-selectable temperatures from 2700K to 5000K. The gimbal tilts 30 degrees and spins a full 360.
One-piece die-cast aluminum trim and heat sink, Type IC, wet location listed, ETL certified, 5-year warranty.
What are pot lights called now?
Pot light is the Canadian trade term. Elsewhere the same fixture is a recessed light, a downlight or a can light, and an adjustable one like this is an eyeball or a gimbal. All four name a luminaire recessed into the ceiling. Votatec's catalogue says eyeball, your inspector says pot light.
Is square recessed lighting in style?
Yes, and it's specified for a reason. Square trim lines up with the square vents, registers and tile grids already in a modern ceiling. It comes in white or black, and because the cutout is round, you can mix square and round trims on one job off a single hole saw.
Set the colour temperature before you clip it in
The switch sits inside the driver housing, so reach it while the fixture is still in your hand. One part number covers 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K. Output isn't flat across that range. Tested output runs about 520 to 550Lm at 2700K against 656Lm certified at 5000K, and the beam widens from 40 degrees to roughly 45 as it warms. Do your lumen math on the temperature you're actually setting.
Will it fit, and which dimmer works?
Cut a round 2-7/8" (72mm) hole. The square trim covers at 3-1/2" (85mm), the fixture needs 2" (46mm) of depth, and the driver sits in its own box on a quick connector, so plan plenum room for both. Feed it with NMD90 Romex or BX, and note the cable connector is sold separately. TRIAC dimming runs 10% to 100% across 36 factory-tested dimmers from Lutron, Leviton and Legrand. Older incandescent dimmers will flicker. The manual restricts this fixture to indoor installation.
