7.5″ Disk Light 5Way CCT – PIR

This 7.5" disk light is hardwired, not battery powered. The PIR sensor sits in the fixture and switches the light on when someone walks in.

What are the downsides of using motion sensor lights?

Three limits matter on this fixture. Hold time is fixed at 60, 180 or 300 seconds, so you pick one at install and it stays there. The sensor runs always on with no daylight override, which means it triggers in a bright room as readily as a dark one. Detection reaches 5m across a 45 degree cone, so a single unit won't cover a long corridor.

Where should you mount a PIR ceiling light?

Votatec's manual recommends 8ft. At that height the sensor picks up movement out to about 16ft. Mount it lower and the coverage circle shrinks. Mount it higher and walk-in detection arrives late, because the cone meets the floor further from the doorway than the person coming through it. For corridors, space units on detection overlap rather than on light levels.

One part number covers five colour temperature specs

The CCT switch sits on the back of the housing, so you set colour on site instead of stocking five SKUs. Output isn't flat across the range. 2700K gives 932 lumens, 3500K and 4000K peak near 1055, and 5000K settles at 970. That matters when a spec sets a lumen floor and the designer has asked for a warm setting.

What fits, and what doesn't

It mounts to a standard junction box through keyhole slots in the back housing, and the lens twists off for wiring. The housing stands 1.4" off the ceiling at the centre, over a 7.5" diameter. There's no dimming on this model, so don't pair it with a wall dimmer. It's 120V only. Operating range runs -20°C to 40°C. Both the CCT switch and the sensor mode switch sit behind the lens, so set them before you close it up.
