The G4-D03 is a 12V G4 LED capsule on a 13.5mm body, the brighter of Votatec's two G4 bi-pin lamps. AC or DC 12V, never mains.
2.3W delivers 230 lumens at 100 lm/W, with CRI above 80 and a 360 degree beam. Choose 3000K, 4000K, 5000K or 6000K. Dimmable.
Silicone lens over an Epistar COB, steel pins, ETL listed, 2 year warranty.
Can you replace G4 bulbs with LED?
Yes, as long as two things hold: the socket is fed 12V, and the fixture is open. G4 is a low-voltage bi-pin base, so the lamp sits downstream of a transformer and never sees mains power. It accepts AC or DC at 12V, 50-60Hz, which covers the magnetic and electronic transformers already in most halogen fixtures. Wire it to a 120V circuit and it's gone instantly. It isn't rated for enclosed fixtures, so sealed and gasketed housings are out. IP20 means dry locations only.
Do dimmable LED bulbs need a special dimmer?
On a 12V circuit the dimmer isn't the part that decides it. The transformer is. This lamp dims, but the dimmer sits ahead of the transformer on the 120V side, so the transformer has to be a dimmable type too. The trap is minimum load. Pull a 20W halogen capsule, drop in 2.3W, and a transformer that needs 20W to regulate sees almost nothing. That's the flicker and drop-out people blame on the lamp. Add up the wattage on the run and check it against the transformer's minimum before you order.
Are all G4 bulbs the same size?
No, and diameter is where retrofits fail. This one measures 13.5mm across and 38.5mm end to end, with 29mm of that being body above the pins. Our 1.6W G4 is 10mm across on the same 38.5mm length. So if the shroud or puck housing won't take 13.5mm, order the 1.6W instead. Measure before you commit to a pallet.
Does colour temperature change the brightness?
Not on this lamp. The sheet publishes 230 lumens and 100 lm/W at every colour temperature it offers, 3000K through 6000K. Plenty of capsules lose output at the warm end, forcing you into 4000K to hit a lumen target. Here the choice is about how the space should look, nothing else.
For the dimension drawing, the per-CCT lumen table and the -20C to +45C operating window, open the Spec sheet, send us your lamp count and the transformer rating you're feeding, and we'll come back with a wholesale quote and a load check.
