Are high bay UFO lights dimmable?
Yes, this one dims 10% to 100% on a 0-10V signal, and a 1 ft dimming cable ships with every fixture. The manual lists three methods: 0-10V DC, PWM, and resistance unit. Tested dimmers are the Lutron NTSTV-DV, Leviton DS710-10Z and IP710, and Legrand RH4FBL3PW.
One limit isn't on the spec sheet. You can't run a dimmer and the plug-in motion sensor on the same fixture, so pick one control method before you order.
How many UFO high bay lights do I need?
Start with beam geometry. At 90 degrees, the pool of light on the floor is roughly twice the mounting height, so a fixture hung at 20 ft covers about a 40 ft circle before overlap. Then work from output: 22,000 lumens at 150W, 15,000 at 100W, 12,000 at 80W.
The wattage switch is what makes the count flexible. Hang the same fixture high and run it at 150W, or drop it lower and dial it back to 80W, instead of ordering a second part number.
What the two switches save you
Unscrew the plug on the driver housing, set wattage and colour temperature, screw it back. That's the whole job, and it happens on site.
For distributors, one part number covers 80W through 150W and 3500K through 5000K. For contractors, you can set colour after the client walks the mock-up rather than swapping stock.
Where this fixture can go
IP65 and cULus wet location rated, so covered loading docks and wash-down bays are in scope. It meets NSF requirements for Splash Zone and Non Food Zone, which matters in food plants. Operating range is -40°C to 50°C, so unheated Canadian warehouses work.
The manual gives three mounting methods, not just the hook listed on the spec sheet: hook, ceiling bracket, and 1/2 inch NPT. The bracket and NPT mounts tilt 50 degrees either way.
