What are the common problems with LED panels?
Overstated lumens, flicker on a cheap driver, and a colour switch nobody sets. The first one costs you money. Plenty of panels publish a lumen figure with no tested photometry behind it, so you size a corridor on paper and come up short on site.
Votatec publishes IES files for all five colour temperatures on this SKU, in the Related documents panel. Run them in AGi32 or Dialux before you commit to a spacing. Most fixtures in this class can't offer that check.
6 inches by 2 feet, or 6 inches by 4 feet?
Pick by run length, not by output. This 22W version is 2 feet long, which suits a vestibule, a service closet or a short corridor. The 4ft version doubles the length and adds 40W, 30W or 20W selectable output, so it carries a full corridor run.
Both share the 6 inch width, the 0.94in depth and the same manual. The install is identical.
How does it mount?
To a junction box, with a bracket and two screws, then four drywall plugs anchor the housing. Five leads: black line, white neutral, green ground, and a purple and pink pair for 0-10V control.
Check that pink lead. It's the control negative, and most manufacturers put grey there, so an electrician wiring by convention will hunt for grey and not find it. A safety rope holds it while you make up connections, so it's a one person install. Removal is by screwdriver at the "Open here" mark, and there's an install video on this page.
Can it go in an unheated garage?
Yes, within limits. The manual rates it for damp locations and indoor use only, across -20 to +40°C, so a parking level, an unheated garage or a covered loading area are in scope. Outdoors isn't. Don't pack insulation against the housing, and the board and driver aren't field replaceable, so a failure means a fixture swap.
