How much amperage does an 8-foot LED shop light fixture draw?
At 90W on a 120V circuit, this fixture draws 0.75A. Votatec's own IES test measured 88.8W at 120V with a 0.99 power factor. Put the same fixture on a 347V feeder and it pulls about 0.26A.
That matters once you link them. Each run tops out at 500W, so you can chain five fixtures at 90W, or eight at 60W. Five at 90W is 3.75A, which leaves room on a 15A circuit.
How many lumens do you need for a 24x24 garage?
A 24 by 24 garage is 576 square feet. General service work wants around 10 foot-candles under IES practice.
One fixture at 90W measures 11,576 lumens in the published IES file. Allow for fixture efficiency and dirt depreciation and that lands near 12 foot-candles, so a single 8ft run does it. Two fixtures at 60W give you the same light with better uniformity and fewer shadows across a bench.
Why multi-voltage matters on a bid
Most 8ft shop lights stop at 277V. This one takes anything from 120V to 347V on the same driver, and 347V is standard on Canadian commercial services.
One SKU covers the whole job. You stock less, you avoid a change order when the panel voltage doesn't match the drawing, and you quote the same fixture either way.
What fits, and what doesn't
IP44 and damp rated, so it suits parking garages, service bays and unheated shops down to -40C. It isn't a wet-location fixture. For washdown areas, use a vapor tight fixture instead.
The driver housing carries a sensor receptacle, so occupancy control can go in later by plugging a sensor in, with no rewiring. Adding one narrows the cold limit to -20C, because the sensor is the weaker part. 0-10V dimming is built in and tested with Lutron, Leviton and Legrand dimmers down to 10%.
Chain hanging uses the included V-hooks. Ceiling anchors aren't supplied.
