Product Overview

This 20A GFCI receptacle puts USB-A and USB-C on the face, so a kitchen or office outlet charges two devices without giving up either socket.

Class A ground fault protection trips at 5mA in under 25 milliseconds. The T-slot face takes 20A plugs, 125V, with 4.8A shared across the two USB ports. Tamper-resistant shutters and automatic self-test are built in.

ETL listed, two-year warranty, indoor use.

Should I get a 15 or 20 amp GFCI outlet?

Match the receptacle to the circuit, not to the appliance. A 20A device belongs on a 20A branch circuit wired in 12 AWG behind a 20A breaker. Canadian kitchens make the choice sharper. CEC Rule 26-726 lets you serve counter receptacles with 5-20RA T-slot outlets on single 20A circuits, instead of split 15A duplexes on multi-wire circuits. This model has that T-slot face. For bathrooms, bedrooms and general 15A circuits, take the 15A version of the same device.

What is a 20 amp GFCI used for?

Kitchen counters, workshops, garages, and light commercial rooms where one circuit carries a heavier load. Ground fault protection is separately required within 1.5 m of a sink. Feed the LINE terminals from the panel and the LOAD terminals downstream, and every outlet past this one is protected too. Put a "GFCI Protected" sticker on each of them.

What should not be plugged into a GFCI?

Life support equipment. The manual is blunt about it: don't install this receptacle on a circuit that powers life support gear, because a trip takes the equipment down with it. Worth knowing what the device doesn't do, as well. A GFCI won't protect against circuit overloads or short circuits. That's still the breaker's job.

What won't work, and what the manual requires

Copper or copper-clad wire only. Aluminum isn't permitted. Don't drop it into a box already holding more than four wires, or cables carrying more than two, without an electrician sizing the box first. Terminals take 14 in-lbf, no more, and want 1 inch of strip on the screws or 0.6 inch in the back holes.

Indoor only. The manual requires a WR-marked device for damp or wet locations, and this one isn't WR marked, so specify the weather resistant 20A SKU for exterior and covered outdoor work.

For the wiring diagrams, the box-fill limit and the monthly test routine, open the Manual (PDF), and the Spec Sheet for the full electrical table. Send us your counter and washroom counts and we'll come back with a wholesale quote plus a check on whether the 15A or WR version covers the rest of the job.
