Product Details
How many remote heads can a 275W battery unit run?
Up to 265W of them. The 275W figure is total emergency output, and the two integral 5W heads claim 10W of it, which leaves 265W for remotes. Specify 2W integral heads and the budget goes to 271W instead. Most LED remote heads draw 2W to 10W, so one cabinet covers a long corridor run. What voltage do the remote heads need to be?
12VDC. The main board output is labelled DC 12V on the wiring diagram, fed by two 12V 12Ah lead-acid batteries in parallel. Heads built for 6V only, or 24V only, won't work here. Universal 6-24VDC heads will. What are the legal requirements for emergency lights in Ontario?
The National Building Code asks for 30 minutes of emergency lighting at an average 10 lx at floor level. Group B occupancies outside Subsection 3.2.6 need 60 minutes, and buildings inside 3.2.6, which covers high buildings, need 120. This unit is rated at 30 minutes or more with the full 275W load connected. Code also wants a 30 second test every 30 days, written records of every test, and one full-duration test each year.Where can you install it?
Indoors, in heated space. The manual says indoor use only and the operating range is 15°C to 35°C, so unheated docks and parking garages are out. The cabinet measures 15.3 by 4.2 by 14 inches and wall mounts on universal keyhole slots, with conduit knockouts on both sides and a 3.5ft cord included for plug-in jobs. One transformer handles both voltages: red to AC347V, black to AC120V, white to neutral, green to ground. Keep the supply above 80% of nominal or brownout protection dims the heads. For the wiring diagram, battery hookup and the 30 day test routine, open the Manual (PDF) in the Related documents panel, and pull the IES file if your designer needs photometry. Send us your unit count and your total remote head wattage and we'll come back with a wholesale quote and a 120V or 347V check against your panel.Show more
