The CM-216C-72W-F is a steel emergency lighting unit that runs its own two heads plus up to 68W of remote heads from a single 12V DC circuit.
One part number covers both service voltages: AC120-347V input, 12W to 14W draw. Two 2W integral heads at 6000-6500K, 30-degree beam. A full 72W load runs 30 minutes, and 18W runs 120.
20-gauge powder-coated steel, CSA certified to C22.2 No. 141-15, 5-year warranty.
What is an emergency lighting unit?
It's a self-contained battery pack that keeps egress paths lit when utility power drops. This one holds its own charger, a 12V 7Ah sealed lead-acid battery, two adjustable heads, and terminals for remote heads placed elsewhere on the floor. A green pilot LED reports AC-on and charge state. A push-button test switch drops it onto battery whenever you want to check it.
What are the requirements for emergency lighting in Canada?
The National Building Code sets 30 minutes as the minimum duration, and some occupancies and provinces ask for more. Testing is the part that gets missed. Run a 30-second functional test monthly, then one full-duration discharge test every year, and write both down. Undocumented tests don't count at inspection.
How much remote load will 72W really carry?
68W. The manual's wiring diagram labels the remote branch 68W/LED, because the two integral heads take 4W out of the 72W total output. Size your remote heads against 68W, not 72. Runtime then scales against roughly 36Wh of usable battery: 72W gives you 30 minutes, 24W gives 90, and 18W gives 120. Need two hours in a high building? Keep total connected load at or under 18W.
Where it fits, and where it won't
Heated indoor space. The manual says indoor use only, and the rated range is 5°C to 30°C, so unheated docks, parking garages and hot mechanical rooms are out. Feed the black lead for 120V or the red lead for 347V, then insulate the one you didn't use. Supply has to hold above 80% of nominal or the heads glow dim instead of running properly. The 12" x 3" x 12.4" cabinet mounts to a universal keyhole pattern with spider knockouts, or onto a conduit stem.
For wiring colours, the battery connection sequence and the full troubleshooting chart, open the Manual (PDF), and check the Spec sheet for the accessory list and the load-versus-runtime table. Send us your head count and required duration and we'll confirm the 68W budget covers your layout with a wholesale quote.
