What are emergency lights with remote capability?
A remote capable unit is a battery box that powers extra lamp heads mounted away from itself. The CM-265-144W runs its own two 5W heads and sends 24V DC to heads you mount down a corridor or stairwell it can't light directly. One battery, one test switch, one annual test.
How many remote heads can it run?
134W of them. The wiring diagram prints it on the remote branch: 2*5W/LED for the integral pair, 134W/LED for everything downstream (Manual, wiring diagram). The 144W is total output, and the two integral heads claim 10W. Most LED remote heads draw 2W to 10W. Add up every head before you order.
Does it take 12V or 24V remote heads?
24V. The main board is labelled Output: DC 24V, fed by two 12V 8Ah lead acid batteries in series (Manual, wiring diagram). Heads built for 12V only won't work. Universal 6-24VDC heads will. The 24V rail also halves the current for a given wattage, so voltage drop on a long run bites less than on our 12V units.
How long does it hold below full load?
Longer, and the spec sheet publishes the curve. 144W gives 30 minutes. 48W gives 90 minutes. 36W gives 120 minutes, and 8W runs 9 hours (Spec sheet, Battery Back Up Details). Every row is the same 72Wh, so runtime scales with what you hang off it. Need more than the 30 minute minimum in NBC 3.2.7.3? Size the remote load down.
Where it fits
Indoors, in heated space. The manual says indoor use only, and the range is 15°C to 35°C, so unheated docks and outdoor parking are out. Brownout matters too: the supply has to hold 80% of nominal, 120V or 347V, or the heads glow dim instead of running.
