Two USB-C ports, no USB-A. The BAA-025 is a 15A tamper-resistant duplex receptacle with a pair of Type-C chargers built into the same device, so phones and tablets charge straight from the wall without an adapter.

What is a USB-C duplex receptacle?
It's a standard two-outlet wall receptacle with USB-C charging ports built into the same device, so one wall box gives you four places to plug in. The two power outlets stay free because the phones move to the USB ports. It drops into the same opening as the duplex receptacle it replaces, on a NEMA 5-15R pattern at 15A and 125V. Both outlets carry tamper-resistant shutters, marked TR on the face.
Will it charge a laptop?
No. The two Type-C ports share 4.8A at 5VDC, which is 24W total, and that's phone and tablet territory. There's no Power Delivery here, so it won't negotiate the higher voltages a laptop asks for. A built-in smart chip reads each device and sets the charge rate to match. Spec it where unit price and volume matter more than watts: hotel rooms, student residences, bedside and desk outlets. For laptop charging, specify a PD device instead.
How is it wired?
Kill the breaker and confirm the circuit is dead before touching a conductor. Then it's the standard three: black to hot, white to neutral, green to ground. Terminals take the conductor from the back or the side, and the sheet lists 12 to 14 AWG. Indoor, in-wall only.
Is this a GFCI?
No, and it matters. This is a tamper-resistant duplex receptacle, not a ground-fault device. Where the Canadian Electrical Code calls for GFCI protection, kitchens, bathrooms, outdoors, you still need a GFCI receptacle or breaker ahead of it. Ask us about the GFCI range if the location needs both.
Will it fit the box?
The strap measures 4.13in by 1.69in, and the body runs 1.77in deep, so check depth against shallow retrofit boxes before you order. Operating range is -20C to 60C. Tamper-resistant shutters cover the CEC requirement for dwelling units under Rule 26-700.
