A 20A tamper-resistant duplex receptacle with two USB-C ports built in, so crews stop hunting for wall adapters. Model BAA-025D.
Both Type-C ports share 4.8A at 5VDC, 24W total. Tamper-resistant shutters on both outlets. Back and side wire, 12-14 AWG. White or black. Indoor, in-wall only.
Flame-retardant housing rated UL94-V2. Plastic and aluminum body, UL Listed to UL 498 and CSA C22.2 No. 42-10, backed 2 years.
What is a USB-C receptacle?
It's a standard wall outlet with USB Type-C ports built into the same device, so phones and tablets charge straight from the wall with no plug-in adapter. This one keeps both power sockets. You're not trading an outlet away to get the charging ports.
Both Type-C ports share 4.8A at 5VDC, 24W total. A built-in chip reads what each device is asking for and splits the current accordingly. It's a 5V charger, not a Power Delivery unit, so it'll run two phones or a phone and a tablet at full tilt. A USB-C laptop will only trickle.
Are tamper-resistant outlets required in Canada?
Yes, in a lot of buildings. The Canadian Electrical Code, Rule 26-706, requires CSA 5-15R and 5-20R receptacles in specified locations to be tamper-resistant and marked as such. The 2015 code covered dwelling units and child care facilities. The 2018 edition widened it to areas where children may be present, which pulled in hotel guest rooms, preschools and elementary schools.
That's why this part gets specified in hospitality, education and multi-residential work. Confirm the edition your authority having jurisdiction enforces before you order, because provinces adopt on their own schedules.
What fits, and what doesn't
Indoor and in-wall only. There's no damp or wet location rating on this device, so keep it out of exteriors and unconditioned spaces.
The body measures 4.13in tall by 1.69in wide by 1.77in deep, with 1.47in sitting behind the mounting strap. Check that against shallow boxes on retrofit work. Terminals take 12-14 AWG and accept back or side wire, which speeds up a long run of rooms. Rated -20C to 60C.
This is the 20A model and it needs a 20A branch circuit. If you're on 15A, order BAA-025 instead. It's the same device in the 15A rating.
