The CR-7125 puts a green running man exit sign and twin adjustable lamp heads in one IP65 wet-location housing, rated down to -20°C for unheated Canadian spaces.
It draws 3.5W on AC, takes anything from 120V to 347V, and holds 120 minutes on battery. Three pictograms ship in the box, so one part number covers left, right and straight.
Thermoplastic housing, PC diffuser, CSA certified for wet locations, 5-year warranty.
Do all exit signs have to be red?
No, and in Canada they can't be. Ontario Building Code Art. 3.4.5.1(2) calls for a green and white graphical symbol meeting the colour specs of ISO 3864-1 and conforming to ISO 7010. Red lettered EXIT signs are a US convention. A lot of what turns up in an online search is US stock that won't pass an Ontario inspection, so check the pictogram before you check the price.
What makes this a wet location exit sign?
Two things: an IP65 seal and a CSA wet location listing. IP65 means dust tight and protected against water jets from any direction. A damp rated sign only handles moisture in the air. Put a damp rated unit somewhere it gets hit by water, washdown, driving rain under a canopy, snowmelt off a deck above, and you're outside its listing and outside your inspection.
Where the -20°C rating matters
The CR-7125 runs from -20°C to 40°C. Check that line before you specify any combo for an unheated parkade, a loading dock, an exterior canopy or a cold storage vestibule. A unit rated only to 0°C won't hold its runtime through a Canadian winter in those spaces, and a combo that fails its annual test is a deficiency on your report.
What it won't do
It isn't remote capable. The spec sheet lists maximum remote load as none, so the two integral heads are all you get. If you need to light a corridor run off one unit, pair a remote capable battery unit with separate lamp heads instead. Mounting is wall, ceiling or end, and the plate is knocked out for all three. Don't mount it near gas or electric heaters. Let the battery charge 24 hours before you rely on it, then press the test button: the battery LED comes on and the AC lamp goes out. That's your pass.
