Set the colour temperature on the bulb, not in the purchase order. This 12W LED corn bulb switches between 3000K, 4000K and 5000K, so one part number covers three colour specs.
1680-1860 lumens. E26 medium base. 120-277V input, 360 degree output, 80+ CRI.
Aluminum heatsink and no cooling fan, 50,000 hour rated life, cULus listed for damp locations, 5-year warranty. Built for post tops, garden lights and small wall packs.
Do you have to bypass the ballast?
Yes. Every model on the CLW08C datasheet runs ballast bypass, so the lamp wires straight to line voltage and the existing HID or CFL ballast comes out. Input is 120-277V at 50-60Hz, power factor above 0.9. Budget the labour for the bypass when you're quoting a post top or wall pack retrofit. It's the step crews forget.
Are COB LEDs brighter than regular LEDs?
Not in a way that helps here. A COB chip packs its dies onto one substrate and throws a dense beam in one direction. A corn bulb spreads dozens of small chips around a cylinder for 360 degree output. When the fixture already has a reflector doing the aiming, that all-round spread fills the housing evenly. Point a COB up into a post top and you'll mostly light the inside of the shade.
Can you change the colour temperature after installation?
Yes, with a switch on the bulb. Pick 3000K, 4000K or 5000K at the bottom of the lamp before you screw it in. Output shifts a little with the setting: 1680 lm at 3000K, 1860 lm at 4000K, 1800 lm at 5000K. Stock one part, satisfy three colour specs, carry less on the truck.
Where a 12W corn bulb fits
Small enclosed housings. The lamp measures 2.36 in across and 5.39 in long, and the CLW08C range is rated for enclosed fixtures, which is where cheap corn bulbs cook themselves. Damp location listed, cULus, and a -40°C to 50°C range that handles Canadian winters. Mounts horizontal or vertical. It isn't wet rated, so keep it out of open-bottom fixtures taking direct rain. Measure the compartment before you order: the 18W, the next size up, calls for 12.6 x 7.48 x 7.48 in.
For the ballast bypass sequence, the CCT switch position and the compartment table, open the Manual and Spec sheet in the Related documents panel, and pull the IES file if your designer needs 5000K photometrics for a layout. Send us your fixture count and mounting type and we'll come back with a wholesale quote plus a check on whether the 18W suits the job better.
