Product Details

A wattage-selectable LED corn light. One selector sets the lamp to 36W, 27W, or 18W, so a single part number covers three fixture loads instead of three SKUs. Output runs 5400lm at 36W down to 2700lm at 18W in 5000K. CRI above 80, 4000K or 5000K, on AC120-347V. Both E26 and E39 bases ship in the box. Built-in 4KV surge protection, cULus-listed, damp location rated, IP64, backed by a 5-year warranty.

Do you have to remove the ballast first?

Yes. Bypass the ballast before this lamp goes in. Votatec's instruction book is blunt about why: leave the ballast in circuit and it "will produce the resonance of high voltage and makes led corn light breakdown." You'll kill the lamp on startup. Cut the ballast out, wire line and neutral straight to the socket, then fit the lamp. Only a qualified electrician should do this, and the fixture's input rating has to be at least the lamp's. If a security rope came in the box, clip it to the lamp and anchor the other end to the fixture shell before you power up.

What metal halide wattage does it replace?

Each step maps to an HID load. 36W replaces a 100W HID lamp, 27W replaces 80W, and 18W replaces 50W, per the Votatec datasheet. You get 145lm/W at 4000K and 150lm/W at 5000K, so the lamp holds its efficiency at every setting rather than only at full output.

Why buy a wattage-selectable lamp?

Because you spec once and tune on site. Order one part number, then set each lamp to suit the mounting height and the fixture it lands in. Rows that came out too bright drop a step without a return. For a distributor it also means one bin instead of three.

Will it fit the fixture you already have?

Check the compartment before you order. This lamp needs a minimum lamp compartment of 14.96in long by 7.87in wide by 7.87in high, and the lamp itself measures 3.35in across by 7.56in. It's rated for enclosed fixtures, runs horizontal or vertical, and holds up from -40C to 50C, so Canadian winters aren't a problem. Damp location only, and never in an emergency exit fixture. Post top, garden light, shoebox and highbay housings are the intended homes.
