Product Details

One lamp, three wattages, three colours. Set the base switches to 120W, 100W or 80W, then to 3000K, 4000K or 5000K, and this LED corn light drops straight into a 360W metal halide fixture. Up to 18,000lm at 5000K and 150lm/W. CRI above 80, E39 mogul base, AC120-277V, 360 degree beam. Aluminium heatsink, no fan, 6KV surge protection built in. cULus listed, damp rated, DLC listed, 5 year warranty.

Do you have to remove the ballast first?

Yes, and skipping it kills the lamp. Votatec's instruction book says an in-circuit ballast "will produce the resonance of high voltage and makes led corn light breakdown." On metal halide and HPS fixtures you pull the ballast, the ignitor and the capacitor, then run line and neutral straight to the socket. Only a qualified electrician should do this, and the fixture's input rating has to be at least the lamp's. If a security rope shipped in the box, clip it to the lamp and anchor it to the fixture shell before you power up.

What metal halide wattage does the 120W replace?

360W at the top step, 300W at 100W and 240W at 80W, per Votatec's datasheet. Output is 18,000lm at 5000K, 18,600lm at 4000K and 16,800lm at 3000K, all at full power. One part number covers a 240W to 360W retrofit range. Buy one SKU, then trim each lamp on site instead of returning rows that came out too bright.

Why pay for CCT and wattage selection?

Because the spec changes after the order lands. Lift the top plastic cover with a screwdriver and two switches sit underneath, one for wattage and one for colour temperature. A warehouse aisle at 5000K and a hotel car park at 3000K come out of the same carton. Distributors stock one bin instead of nine.

Will it fit the fixture you already have?

Measure the compartment first. The 120W needs at least 440 x 260 x 260mm (H x L x W) inside an enclosed fixture, and the lamp is 11.14in long by 5.12in across. At this size it mounts vertical only. Damp locations, never wet, and never in an emergency exit fixture. It holds from -40C to 50C, so post tops and shoeboxes handle a Canadian winter. It's a retrofit kit, so your AHJ signs off on the lamp and fixture combination.
