Product Overview

One fan, three settings. A switch inside the housing sets this ceiling exhaust fan to 50, 80 or 100 CFM, so a single model covers a powder room through to a 100 square foot main bath.

It's certified at 0.3 sones on low and 13.7 CFM per watt, drawing 6W to 14W through a DC motor, ducted at 4 inches.

Galvanized steel housing, ENERGY STAR certified, cETL listed, two year warranty.

How many CFM does a bathroom fan need?

One CFM per square foot of floor, and never below 50. A 5 by 7 bathroom is 35 square feet, so it takes the 50 CFM setting. A 10 by 10 takes 100. Past 100 square feet you add it up by fixture: 50 each for the toilet, the shower and a standard tub, 100 for a jetted tub. That's the Home Ventilating Institute rule, and it's why this fan ships with three settings.

Can a bathroom exhaust fan be too powerful?

Yes, and it's the first thing to check when a fan is too loud. Too much CFM for the room means noise and heated air pulled outside. The manual lists "CFM too great" ahead of every other cause of excess noise. Size it to the room, then leave it. To check one that's already in, run it after a shower: if the room clears in about 15 minutes, it's fine.

Where the CFM is actually set

On the fan, not on the wall. The selector switch sits on the motor assembly inside the housing, marked 50, 80 and 100, and you set it during install before the grille goes on. That matters for the wiring: don't put this fan on a dimmer or any solid-state speed control. The manual rules both out, for humming and for shock risk.

What the install needs

Ducting is 4 inch, run straight, with no sharp bend inside 18 inches of the discharge. Narrowing it makes the fan louder. Vent outdoors, never into an attic, and leave the room some make-up air or it can't pull. It's cleared over a tub or shower on a GFCI protected circuit. It isn't a range hood, and the warranty is residential only.

For the wiring diagram, duct clearances and the full safety list, open the Manual (PDF), and take the Spec sheet for the dimensioned drawing. Send us your unit count and we'll come back with a wholesale quote and a check on the install.
