This 12-inch fixture mounts under a wall cap as a retaining wall light, then turns over as a deck light. Same part number, two layouts. The head rotates 270 degrees, so you aim the beam after the stone's set.
7W off 12-24V AC/DC. Tested output runs 384Lm at 2700K to 443Lm at 5000K, five CCTs on a switch, 82+ CRI.
Die-cast aluminum on a stainless steel plate. IP65, wet location, cETL, 40,000 hours, 3 year warranty.
How far apart should retaining wall lights be placed?
Plan it before the wall goes up, not after. The 95 degree beam off an 11.81 inch body throws a wide wash, and typical trade practice on seat and retaining walls runs 2 to 4 feet between fixtures, tightening on taller walls where the pools need to overlap. Step 2 of the manual is the part that gets skipped: mark every position before construction starts, because the stainless steel plate has to sit between courses of hardscape material. Retrofitting into a finished wall means pulling cap stones.
Can it run as a deck light instead?
Yes, and that's the reason to spec it over a fixed under-cap bar. The manual shows two mounting orientations, so one part number covers a retaining wall cap and a deck riser or stair stringer. The head detaches from its plate and rotates 270 degrees. Set the colour temperature once and the memory function holds it through a power cut, which matters when a run of eight has to still match after the transformer cycles.
What does it need for power and wiring?
12-24V AC/DC from a landscape transformer, either polarity, power factor above 0.9. Two waterproof wire nuts ship with each fixture. The manual routes the lead through the wall to the main low voltage cable using standard masonry practice, and a V-shaped notch cut into the block gives the wire somewhere to sit. Mortar is optional and isn't supplied.
How does it hold up outdoors in Canada?
It's wet location rated and IP65, so rain, snow melt and sprinkler spray are fine. Check the operating range against your site though: -20°C to 40°C. Much of the country sees stretches below that in January, and the rating stops there. The fixture weighs 1.1 lbs and ships with five plastic anchors, five round-head screws and two countersunk screws.
For both mounting layouts, the wire routing detail and the full anchor list, open the Manual (PDF), and pull the IES file if your designer needs the photometric distribution. Send us your fixture count and total run length and we'll come back with a wholesale quote plus a check on transformer sizing.
