Product Overview

Set the colour temperature before you mount it. The switch sits on the fixture body, so once it's clipped up under a cabinet you're not getting at it. 3W draws 250 lumens across a true 6-inch body, 1 inch wide and 0.6 inches deep. Pick 3000K, 4000K or 5000K on the fixture. Runs straight off 120V with no external driver, and dims. cULus listed, CRI above 80, rated 50,000 hours, five-year warranty.

Do I need a transformer for under cabinet LED lights?

Not for this one. It runs on 120V/60Hz line voltage with the driver built into the housing, so there's no transformer and no low-voltage run to hide. That's the difference from 12V or 24V tape, which needs a driver sized to the load. Tested working range is 108 to 132V.

Should under cabinet lighting be hardwired?

For anything permanent, yes. No cord dropping to a receptacle, no wall wart on an outlet, and it sits on a switch or dimmer. Votatec supplies a wire box with a female end and an on/off switch. Order it with the fixtures, because the 0.5ft ships with no cord.

How many lumens should under cabinet lighting be?

The IES range for under-cabinet task lighting is 200 to 500 lumens per linear foot, and 450 to 550 over a primary prep zone. At 250 lumens across 6 inches, this unit gives 500 per foot. Over dark stone, plan on the higher end.

Is 3000K or 4000K lighting better for under cabinets?

3000K reads warm against wood. 4000K reads neutral and shows true colour on a work surface. You don't pick at order time, because the switch on each fixture does all three, set per run on site.

What fits, and what to order with it

The body is 6 inches exactly, not a rounded nominal, which matters in a tight bay. Link up to 26 units on one feed, about 13 feet of continuous light. Two clips, two roll plugs, two screw lengths and an end cap are in the box. Connecting cables and cords are separate. Runs on different horizontal lines join with a connecting cable. Seven dimmers are qualified across Lutron, Leviton and MACL, and the Manual (PDF) carries those model numbers, the mounting sequence and the 1ft and 2ft link limits.
