4FT AL+PC T5 Tube

A 4ft T5 LED tube that retrofits two ways. Leave the ballast in place and it drops straight in. Take the ballast out and it wires to line voltage instead. One part number, and the call gets made at the fixture.

24W for 3100 lumens, CRI above 83. It runs on anything from 100V to 347V. Pick 4000K or 5000K.

Can you replace a T5 fluorescent tube with LED?

Yes, and this lamp gives your crew two routes.

Keep the existing ballast and it's a straight swap. Kill the power, pull the old tube, fit this one. Or take the ballast out and run line voltage to the sockets.

Same lamp either way. That's the point of an A+B tube. A building with mixed ballast stock gets one part number instead of two.

What happens if you put an LED tube in a fluorescent fixture?

Depends on the lamp. A ballast-compatible tube lights normally. A bypass-only tube sits dark.

This one covers both cases. Check your ballast against the compatibility list first. If it's on there, fit the lamp and walk away. If it isn't, wire the same lamp as a bypass and you're still done.

One decision before you start. Once a fixture is rewired for bypass, it won't run fluorescent lamps again. That's one-way.

Are T5 fluorescent tubes being discontinued in Canada?

They already are. Under the Products Containing Mercury Regulations, manufacture and import of T5 fluorescent lamps stopped on 2025-12-31. Existing stock can be sold through to the end of 2029.

Every T5 building is on a clock. Converting on your own schedule costs less than converting when a supplier can't fill the order.

Will it fit your fixture?

It takes power single-ended or double-ended, so the fixture doesn't get rebuilt to suit the lamp. The manual carries retrofit wiring for one, two, three and four-lamp luminaires running off a single electronic ballast.

Dry and damp locations only. It isn't water tight, and it won't run on a dimmer.

One code detail crews forget: after a bypass conversion, a cautionary label goes on the luminaire and stays visible.
