When should you use a vapor tight high bay?
When the ceiling is high and the air isn't dry. Car washes, parkades, food processing rooms, cold storage and wash-down bays all need a sealed body that an open linear high bay can't give you. This one carries an IP65 seal on a polycarbonate housing, a cETL wet location listing, and an ambient range of -40C to 40C. The cold end is the one that matters in Canada. It'll start at -40C, which an unheated loading dock in Winnipeg reaches most winters.
What are the common problems with high bay lights?
Moisture and dust working past the gasket, then condensation inside the lens. A sealed PC body and stainless steel clips answer both. Check the gasket is fully seated when you clamp the latch down, and keep the wires clear of it. A pinched wire breaks the IP65 rating you paid for.
Three wattages and three colours from one part number
The Power and CCT switches sit inside the housing under the lens, so set them on the ground before you mount anything. One part number covers 160W, 180W and 200W at 3500K, 4000K or 5000K. At 4000K the tested output runs 26,038 lm, 28,864 lm and 31,006 lm across those three steps, measured in Votatec's own IES files, not calculated from a flat efficacy figure.
Will the built-in sensor suit your mounting height?
Ask us before you spec it. The sensor is microwave, 5.8GHz, 0-10V, and it ships pre-set to a 10-second hold with 10% standby dimming after 15 minutes. The RC-100 remote that changes the hold time and the daylight threshold is ordered separately, so budget for one per crew. Votatec's spec sheet and installation manual quote different maximum mounting heights, so confirm yours with us before you order. From the manual: don't cover the fixture with insulation.
