What is a LED vapor tight light?
A vapor tight light is a sealed luminaire that keeps water and dust out of the electrical compartment. This one carries IP66, so it's dust-tight and rated against high-pressure jets from any direction. That's the rating that matters in a wash bay. The gasketed PC lens and base run from -40°C to 40°C, so an unheated parkade won't stop it starting. Canadian specs write it "vapour tight".
Can I convert an 8ft fluorescent fixture to LED?
Replace the fixture rather than retrofitting the old one. A fluorescent strip housing isn't sealed, so a tube swap gets you LED efficiency without the ingress rating you're paying for. Canada's Products Containing Mercury Regulations stopped manufacture and import of T5 and T8 lamps after 2025-12-31, and existing stock can be sold to the end of 2029. Size on lumens, not watts. Votatec doesn't publish a fluorescent equivalent for this model, so ask before quoting one.
Where do you set the wattage and colour temperature?
Inside the fixture, under the lens. Release the latches and both switches sit on the gear tray, marked CCT ADJ and WATT ADJ. Set them before you mount, not after. On a high parkade ceiling, changing your mind later means a ladder and a lens pull. Colour barely costs you output: at 100W the fixture makes 14,500 lumens at 3000K and 14,700 at 6500K, a spread of 1.4%.
What it takes to hang an 8-footer
The body is 94.5 inches long and weighs 5.83 kg (12.78 lbs). It hangs on two stainless clips set 53.15 inches apart, so your hangers don't sit at the ends. Budget 4 screws and 4 expansion bolts per fixture, and the clips come in the box. The cord grip enters a 3/4 inch knockout, so face that end toward incoming supply. Ceiling, wall and surface mounting all work. It's an FCC Class A device under CAN-ICES-005(A), a commercial rating, not a residential one.
