Set this LED corn light to 100W, 80W or 63W, and to 3000K, 4000K or 5000K, using two switches under the top cover. One part number covers a 180W to 300W metal halide retrofit. Are LED corn lights any good in commercial fixtures?

Yes, in the right fixture, and the build is what separates them. A corn lamp rings its LEDs around a cylinder so light leaves at 360 degrees, close to how an HID arc tube behaved. That suits post tops, shoeboxes, garage cans and highbay reflectors. Cheap ones earned the reputation because they trap heat and cook their own drivers. This one runs an aluminium heatsink with no fan to fail, the driver and plastic housing are sealant-poured, and a 6KV protector sits on the input. One install rule outranks every spec: take the ballast out first. Votatec's instruction sheet is blunt about it, warning that an in-circuit ballast "will produce the resonance of high voltage and makes led corn light breakdown."

How long do LED corn bulbs last?

Rated 50,000 hours, with a 5 year warranty behind it. At 12 hours a day that's roughly 11 years. The rating only holds if the lamp can shed heat, which is why the enclosure limits below aren't optional. Operating range is -40C to 50C, so an unheated parkade in February sits well inside spec.

Does the 100W fit an E26 socket?

No. At 100W it's E39 mogul only. Votatec ships the E26 plus E39 pair on the 18W through 63W lamps, and the 100W and 120W drop to E39 alone. Confirm the socket before you order.

Where it shouldn't go

Four limits, all from the manual. It mounts vertically only at this wattage, so horizontal wall packs are out. Inside an enclosed fixture the compartment needs at least 440 x 240 x 240mm, with a glass or semi-metallic shade and nothing over it that blocks heat. Damp locations only, never wet. And don't bench-test it on a generator, or run it near smoke, sulphur or corrosive vapour unless it's inside a sealed shade.
