The Up/Down Cylinder Wall Light puts a matched pair of 60 degree beams up and down a facade, and it runs on anything from 120V to 347V. One part number covers residential, commercial and 347V industrial panels.
One switch sets 30W, 20W or 10W. A second sets 3000K, 4000K or 5000K. Output reaches 3,150 lumens, replacing a 90W HID.

What is the rule of thumb for outdoor lighting?
Mount it at least 2 metres above grade. Votatec's installation manual sets that as the minimum for this fixture, and it's the number every other decision follows from. Lower than 2m and the 60 degree cones reach eye level, so the glare shows and the scallops crowd together. At or above it, the up and down beams read as a clean pair on the wall.
What downlights are suitable for outdoors?
Ones listed for wet locations, not damp. This cylinder is cULus listed for wet and sealed to IP65, so driven rain and hose-down washing are both inside spec. Operating range runs -40C to 45C, which covers Prairie and northern winters rather than just the GTA. Built-in 6kV surge protection handles the transients that take out exterior drivers on long feeder runs.
Nine settings from one cylinder wall light
Two switches sit behind the mounting bracket. One picks 30W, 20W or 10W, the other 3000K, 4000K or 5000K. That's nine combinations from a single SKU, so you can stock one part number and tune each elevation. Set them before you close up the bracket, because reaching them again means dropping the fixture. Cut power first. The manual says so twice.
Before you specify
The photocell ships disconnected. A male and female connector inside the end cap has to be joined to enable dusk-to-dawn, so allow a minute per fixture at commissioning. Dimming is 0-10V on two extra leads, violet and pink on current production, though the manual tells you to confirm against the fixture label. The body is 10.35 inches tall, 3.15 inches in diameter, 2.97 lbs, wall mount only onto a standard J-box. The manual clears it for building exteriors, workshops, warehouses and factories, and for tunnels other than motor vehicle tunnels.
