Votatec's Outdoor Wall Cylinder is a wet-rated LED facade sconce with a daylight photocell built into the housing, so it switches on at dusk without a separate control on the circuit.
One DIP switch sets power at 40W, 30W or 20W and colour at 3000K, 4000K or 5000K. Output runs 1400Lm to 3080Lm on a 25° beam, AC120-347V, 0-10V dimmable.
Aluminum housing, tempered clear glass, cETL listed for wet locations, IP54, 5-year warranty.
Should wall lights face up or down?
You don't have to pick one. A slide switch behind the fixture selects up-light, down-light, or up and down together, so the same SKU covers a facade grazing detail, a doorway downlight, and a symmetrical column wash. For a distributor that means one line item instead of three, and no wrong-orientation returns when the architect changes the elevation late.
What is the recommended height for up-down wall lights?
The manual doesn't set one. It specifies wall mount only onto a standard J-box, and the spec sheet plots the 25° beam cone at one, two and three metres so you can match mounting height to the wall area you want covered. The fixture is 14 inches tall and projects 8.23 inches off the wall, which matters on narrow soffits and near door swings.
Dusk to dawn without a second control
DIP switch 5 turns the photocell on or off. Left on, the fixture runs dusk to dawn by itself, so there's no photocell, timer or contactor to buy and wire per elevation. Switch it off and the building's own lighting control takes over through the 0-10V leads. Dimming holds 10% to 100%.
What the installer needs to know
Wet-location performance depends on a field step. Once the fixture is mounted, the manual tells the installer to run waterproof silicone between the wall and the fixture edge, and that silicone isn't in the box. The box holds a mounting plate, five wire connectors and two screws. Bring a Phillips screwdriver. Five leads land at the plate: line, neutral, ground, DIM+ and DIM-. Pull the two dimming leads even on a non-dimmed run, or retrofitting later means opening the wall. Rated to -25°C, so GTA and Prairie winters are inside spec.
For the wiring diagram, the DIP switch table and the silicone step, open the Manual (PDF) in the Related documents panel, and pull the IES file if your designer needs the 25° distribution for a facade calc. Send us the fixture count and the elevations, and we'll come back with a wholesale quote and a check on whether the 40W or the 20W setting suits the mounting height.
