The SOL Large is a wet location rated outdoor wall light, built for direct rain and snow. It takes a standard E26 bulb rather than a sealed LED module, so your crew relamps it instead of replacing it.

What makes a light fixture wet rated?
A wet location rating means the housing takes direct water, including rain, snow and spray off a driveway. The SOL Large is cETL listed to that standard by Intertek. The tempered glass shade encloses the lamp, and rubber rings seal the screw penetrations between the fixture and its mounting plate.
One part of that rating is on the installer. Votatec's manual tells you to caulk between the back plate and the wall. Skip it and water gets in behind a fixture that's otherwise rated to keep it out.
Wet rated or damp rated: which do you need?
Specify wet whenever the fixture sits past the drip line. Open entries, exposed walls, garage sides, anything weather reaches. Damp rated only covers a deep soffit or a covered porch. Wet rated fixtures are accepted in damp locations too, so wet is the safer call on an exterior wall.
Why an E26 socket beats a sealed LED module
Most outdoor wall lights this size ship with the LED bonded in. When the diode or driver fails, the whole fixture comes off the wall. The SOL Large uses a standard E26 medium base, so maintenance swaps a bulb from a ladder. You pick the colour temperature and the look at the bulb, and change it later. Bulbs aren't included. It dims with a dimmable lamp on a compatible dimmer.
What you'll need on site
The fixture is 8.53" wide, 14.77" high and 10.58" deep, and weighs 5.29 lbs. Mounting unit, ball nuts, rubber rings, screws and wire nuts are in the carton. The junction box, caulk and sealing tape aren't. The ground screw comes preinstalled. Rated down to -20C, so check that against the winter design temperature before specifying it for a prairie or northern site.
