The BAK-004AG slide dimmer wires as either a single-pole or a 3-way control, so one part number covers both positions on a job.
It takes 600W of incandescent or halogen, or 150W of dimmable LED or CFL at 2A, on 120VAC 60Hz. Minimum load is 7W.

Do you need a dimmer on both sides of a 3-way switch?
No. You want one dimmer and one standard 3-way switch, not two dimmers. The installation manual is explicit about it: only a 3-way switch can be used with the 3-way dimmer. Putting a second dimmer on the same travellers is the most common reason a 3-way dimming circuit behaves erratically. Fit the BAK-004AG at whichever of the two locations you want to dim from, and hold the other with a plain 3-way switch.
Can you use a 3-way dimmer on a single light?
Yes. The same device wires single-pole, with no change to the part. You aren't ordering something different for a single-switch room, which keeps one line on the order instead of two. Both wiring diagrams, single-pole and 3-way, are printed on the one manual sheet.
What LED load will it actually dim?
150W of dimmable LED or CFL, or 600W of incandescent and halogen. Two numbers matter more than those maximums. Minimum load is 7W, so a single low-wattage LED lamp can sit under the threshold and flicker or refuse to strike. And the lamp has to be marked dimmable. A non-dimmable LED on any phase-cut dimmer isn't something you can trim your way out of. The slider carries a low-end adjustment you set once at install: run the lamps down until output holds steady, then switch off and back on to confirm they restrike.
What changes when you gang two or three in one box?
You derate. Rated at 600W in a single-gang box, incandescent capacity drops to 500W each where two are ganged, and to 400W each at three. That table covers incandescent load only. The manual also calls for copper conductors only, and supply wire rated 75°C or better.
