The VO-DMRW150-120-WIFI is a 120V in-wall smart dimmer that joins your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi directly, with no hub to buy.
It runs 150W of dimmable LED, or 500W of incandescent and halogen, with stepless dimming from 1% to 100% and five level indicator LEDs. Wire it single-pole or 3-way. A neutral is required.
ETL listed to UL1472, damp location rated, flame-retardant PC-V0 housing, 5 year warranty.
Does this smart dimmer need a neutral wire?
Yes, and there's no workaround. The manual is blunt about it: if your box doesn't have a neutral, this dimmer isn't compatible. Two neutral conductors land on the AC-N terminals, incoming line on AC-L, the fixture leg on YL/RD, ground on G. Check the box before you order. Plenty of older Canadian homes switched the hot leg alone and left no neutral at the switch.
Can you put a smart dimmer on a 3-way circuit?
Yes, as one dimmer paired with one standard 3-way switch. Placement isn't optional. The dimmer goes in the box wired to the fixture, and the plain switch goes in the box fed by the incoming 120V line. Reverse those two and the circuit won't work. Running two dimmers on one circuit is possible in 3 Way-2 mode, reached by holding the switch up for 3 seconds until the indicator flashes twice, but the factory doesn't recommend it.
How much LED load will it actually carry?
150W. Not 500W. The 500W number is the incandescent and halogen rating, and LED loads pull a large inrush current at switch-on, so every dimmer carries a lower LED figure than its incandescent one. At 150W you're looking at roughly a dozen 12W downlights per switch. Add up connected wattage, not fixture count, and leave headroom.
What it won't do
It won't join a 5GHz network. 2.4GHz only, which is worth confirming on mesh systems that hide the band behind one SSID. Pairing runs through the Smart Life app, then Alexa or Google Assistant handle voice. Indoor installation, damp locations rated, 0C to 40C. The box ships with the dimmer, mounting frame, decorative wall plate, two mounting screws and 12 wire labels, so it fits standard decorator plates without extra parts.
For the wiring diagrams, the low-dim flicker adjustment and the Smart Life pairing steps, open the Manual (PDF), and check the Spec sheet for the full load range and dimensions.
