Product Overview

An 8ft LED tube light that goes in two ways. Run it on the fixture's existing electronic ballast, or bypass the ballast and wire straight to line voltage. It's the only 8ft tube we stock with an FA8 or R17D end cap that does both. 42W, 5500 lumens at 5000K, CRI above 83, on any supply from 120V to 347V. Replaces a 96W fluorescent lamp. Glass body with a shatterproof PET film. cULus listed, five-year warranty.

Can you replace an 8 foot fluorescent bulb with LED?

Yes, and in Canada the switch is already underway. Under the Products Containing Mercury Regulations, manufacture and import of T5 and T8 fluorescent lamps stopped after 2025-12-31, and existing stock can only sell through to the end of 2029. This tube goes into the fixture you already have. Fit the end cap that matches your lamp holder, then pick your wiring method.

Can you just replace fluorescent tubes with LED tubes?

Check two things first. For Type A, your electronic ballast has to appear on the compatibility list in the spec sheet. If it isn't listed, bypass the ballast and wire the lamp direct instead. For Type B, look at the lamp holders: the manual rules out shunted bi-pin holders, and those are the ones fitted to instant-start fluorescent fixtures. Replace or rewire them. Convert a fixture to Type B and it won't run fluorescent lamps again.

FA8 or R17D, which end cap do you need?

Identify the lamp holder before you order. Older 8ft T12 high-output fixtures take R17D recessed double contact holders. Standard T8 and T12 slimline fixtures take FA8 single pin. The lamp itself is a G13 tube and the adaptor cap converts it, so one platform covers both fixture populations. Tell us which holder you've got and we'll confirm the cap.

Will it fit the fixture you have?

The lamp needs a compartment of at least 93.54in by 1in, so measure before a volume order. An anti-rotation clip goes on at mid-span to stop an 8ft tube drooping or spinning in its holders, and the manual tells installers to fit it. Rated for dry locations. cULus listed under file E353927 and classified under E361654, which matters when an inspector signs off the conversion.
