The MAR large chain pendant hangs from a ceiling canopy on 72 inches of chain, and it's wet location rated, so rain can hit the fixture directly. It's the hanging version of the MAR outdoor lantern.
Three E12 candelabra sockets take 60W each, 180W maximum. Matte black steel, clear tempered glass, 8.98 inches square.
cETLus listed by Intertek, 120V, rated -20C to 60C, 3 year warranty.
Can you use pendant lights outside?
Only if the fixture carries a wet or damp location rating. This one is rated wet, the stronger of the two. A damp rated pendant belongs under a fully covered soffit where water never reaches it. Wet location means the housing is built to take direct rain, so this pendant can hang over an open deck, a pergola, an uncovered entry or a gazebo. Intertek handled the listing, cETLus.
What should I use to hang lights outside?
Everything for the hang ships in the box: chain, canopy mounting unit, rubber rings, ball nuts, mounting screws and wire nuts. The chain runs 72 inches and the canopy is just under 5 inches across, so the drop from ceiling to the bottom of the glass measures 94.88 inches straight out of the carton. Most installers shorten it. Trim links until the glass sits at the clearance your inspector wants above the walking surface. The lantern body alone is 17.18 inches tall, and the assembly weighs 9.04 lbs, light enough for a standard outdoor box on a fixture-rated support.
Which bulbs fit the three E12 sockets?
Three candelabra base lamps, type B, not included. Each socket takes up to 60W, so a full set of incandescent puts the fixture at 180W on 120V. E12 LED lamps pull a fraction of that. We stock 3.5W and 4.5W E12 LED on the G/E bulbs page. The fixture is dimmable, though the dimming curve follows the lamp and dimmer you pair with it, not the housing.
Where it fits, and where it won't
Mount it vertical. That's the operating position on the spec sheet, and the chain assumes a level overhead surface, so this isn't a sloped-ceiling or wall-arm fixture. The wall-mount MAR covers that. Operating range is -20C to 60C. Sites that regularly drop past -20C, and much of the Prairies does, deserve a note in the submittal.
